Legal seminar to focus on elderly issues

A local attorney will discuss elder law issues from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Nevada County Superior Court, 201 Church St. in Nevada City.

Valerie Logsdon’s presentation “Managing Diminished Capacity and Conservatorship” is being held by the Nevada County Law Library as part of its Noon Time Legal Seminar. Topics to be addressed include:

• What is dementia and how do you know you have it?
• What planning documents should be in place once diagnosed with diminished capacity?
• What happens if nothing is in place, who pays the bills and who ensures safety for someone with dementia?

Logsdon, the Board President of Hospice of the Foothills, moved in 2004 to Nevada County. She specializes in trusts, probate, conservatorships and Medi-Cal planning.

The seminar costs $15 for the public and $30 for attorneys, who will receive MCLE credit, and plan to arrive by 11:45 a.m. to complete registration.
