Local bands to perform at Hospitality House fundraiser
Mikail Graham will present the 11th annual Night of Giving, a benefit for Hospitality House featuring local musicians, from 4 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Miners Foundry in Nevada City.

Performers include Paul Kamm and Eleanore MacDonald, Barwick & Siegfried, Kimberly Bass, Saul and Elena Rayo, the Nevada Union High School Choir, The Earles Of Newtown, Buck Star, Yuba Rio Hot Club, The Heifer Belles, Bob Woods, The Rattlin’ Bones and others.

“As this past year has been quite challenging for most of us on many levels, including a spectacularly volatile political season, we decided to emphasize community unity at this year’s Night of Giving,” Graham said. “Much of our inspiration comes from a short poem I recorded with Utah Phillips about a year before his passing called ‘What We Need.’”

Those who attend will receive a letterpress broadside edition of the poem that is produced and donated by Full Circle Press.

Dinner will be prepared by students and graduates of the Hospitality House Serves culinary job-skills training program and be available for a small donation. Event-goers can also check out a silent auction table and shop for curated vintage items at the Bread & Roses Thrift corner.

The suggested donation for an advance ticket is $20. Children 12 and younger are free. Tickets are available at the door and a variety of locations in Nevada City and Grass Valley. For more information about Hospitality House and the Night of Giving, visit hhshelter.org.
