The fourth installment of the Yuba Lit community reading series will feature writer Nayomi Munaweera, whose first novel, “Island of a Thousand Mirrors,” won the 2013 Commonwealth Book Prize for the Asian Region.
Munaweera, who was born in Sri Lanka but now lives in Oakland, will be joined by Dimitri Keriotis of Grass Valley, author of the short story collection “The Quiet Time,” and Nevada City writer and musician Ben Preston, who recently finished the novel, “All the World Drowning.”
Audience members are encouraged to bring a page or a poem for opening flash readings. Anyone who does so will be given a raffle ticket; five readers will be drawn and given the mic for three minutes to read their work.
The event starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at The Open Book, 671 Maltman Drive, Grass Valley. The $5 cover, payable in cash at the door, benefits the Bear Yuba Land Trust. Wine from Szabo and Sierra Starr wineries will be served.
