Partners in English Language Learning, or PiELL, is seeking volunteer tutors to teach English skills in Nevada County.
The nonprofit organization, which was established in 1985, now has 10 people waiting to learn English or improve their skills, according to a press release. Those interested are required to take a two-day training course and be willing to work at least one hour a week with their student.
One of PiELL’s success stories is from Indonesia, has lived in Nevada County for about five years and recently graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Sacramento.
According to the organization, 70 percent of their students have children in school and want to help them with their education.
PiELL will hold its next classes on Sept. 10 and 17 and volunteers must attend on both days. For more information, call 530-265-2116 or visit piell.org.
